Adding custom fields to Shaker

What is a custom field?

Fields are properties that store information on Shaker objects including deals, contacts, and collaborators such as users and vendors. There are default fields included for each object, but you can also create custom properties to store unique data for your business.

Before creating a custom field, You should check whether a default field can meet your data requirements before creating a custom one.

How can custom fields be used?

Custom fields can be utilized like any other data field in Shaker. Once you create a new custom field, you will find it can be accessed in many places including

  • On the object such as a deal page, contact page, or profile page
  • In email and text templates as a merge field.
  • Added to stage change forms
  • Date and time custom fields can also be added to timelines.

How to Create Custom Fields

1. From the "Settings" tab. Select "Custom Fields" and select the object that you want the custom field to be associated with. You can create custom fields for Contacts, Deals and Collaborators.

2. Select the object where you want your field to live and add a new custom field.

3. Name your custom field and choose your field type

4. Add the field to save it to your account.
